IDEC
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) established IDEC (the Interline Data Exchange Centre) in 1981 to lower airlines’ costs for processing passenger and cargo billings. ATPCO acts as the processing center, receiving the passenger and cargo interline data from airlines, sorting the data, and directing it back to the appropriate airline.
Benefits
- Processing through a single, neutral source reduces participants’ costs
- Fulfills data capture needs of sales-based systems
- Aids the resolution of interline disputes
Features
- Electronic file of carrier invoices
- Provision of a common set of standards for the exchange of billing data
