I manage employees who use ATPCO’s systems and I am interested in using e-learning to train my team. What should I know?

By allowing your employees to complete their training from their location, you can save money on training and increase productivity by reducing their time away from work. E-learning allows your employees to take control of the learning process, and you can help make sure they are successful. Make sure they have time to dedicate to the course and assign them work that helps them practice and reinforces the course material.

I know some of the information covered already. Do I have to complete the whole course to get credit?

How can I make sure I am successful?

With e-learning, you can make the course fit your needs. You can skip or repeat material, take advantage of opportunities for extra practice, and complete coursework at your own pace. However, you should keep in mind the following ways to increase your chances of success:

  • Set aside time for your coursework. Whether it’s an hour a day or a full week of dedicated time, you will need to minimize distractions and focus on the material.
  • Consider spacing out practice to help yourself reinforce the material after you’ve learned it. For example, when completing a workflow in FM100 you can complete the simulation, challenge questions, and activities on the same day. However, it may be more effective to complete the challenge questions and simulation and then wait until the following day to do the activity in the training database. This gives you time to absorb the material, then gives your memory an extra challenge.
  • Work with your manager to figure out the best plan for you. Let them know when you plan to work on the course, and tell them when you are ready to practice your new skills. This will ensure that you have accountability and stay on track, and real-life practice will help reinforce the material as you learn it.
